CONCLUSION
In the Conclusion of the book, I tell the story of a perfect day – how it could work. My imaginary superstar, Rick, leads his team using all the best practices I’ve described in the book. The team understands the mission, and each team member fulfills their role effectively. There are Gantt charts on the wall. The pipeline report looks promising. Even the manager is smiling!
Hey, I live near Disney World and every story has a happy ending. Why not? As one agent who migrated into brokerage from civil engineering told me, “This is the best job in the world. I make more and work less than any other profession I could undertake. I’ve been able to travel the world, and I drink very good wine. I love this job!”
Of course, that was before the pandemic and a 500-basis point increase in interest rates. It was before I wrote Adapt, in which I detail the ways in which disruption is headed our way. The text includes references to printing binders and in-person meetings. A lot has changed since late 2017.
Nonetheless, our industry still needs guidance. The barriers to entry are still laughably low, and the training available to new agents entering the business is almost non-existent. The percentage of agents utilizing coaching is as small now as before. If you are reading this, you’re in the minority. Look around you – how many agents are working smarter? Improving their results? Building stronger teams?
For me, this translates to opportunity. The opportunity to dominate your market has never been clearer, and the reward for doing so has never been greater. If you would be willing to step back, define your mission in crystal clear detail, build a tracking system and then share your mission with targeted prospects, your success is almost guaranteed.
Here’s why. Many of the barons of the industry are aging out. They’re not up for another cycle. New tools are emerging. If you try just two, I encourage you to put a little effort into Monday.com and Upwork.com. The markets are undergoing transformation – which means more expertise is needed, not less. You are at the front end of new cycle, which means you may be able to use a buy low / sell high for your own account. Seize the day. Time to thrive!
